Our campsite, Camping Katzenkopf, is in a privileged location at the southern end of the famous Mainschleife, directly on the Altmain and surrounded by two large bathing lakes. Situated in the middle of a unique nature and landscape conservation area, our campsite is the ideal starting point for nature enthusiasts as well as wine and culture lovers.

Mainschleife / Franconian Toscany

 

Experience the beauty of the Mainschleife, often called the “Franconian Tuscany”, with its picturesque vineyards and rolling hills. Here, the climate is always a little more pleasant, the food a little more delicious and the franconian wine consistently excellent... The surrounding area is known for its idyllic landscapes and offers perfect conditions for long hikes, bike tours and photographic explorations.

Altmain / swimming lakes

 

The Altmain, which is directly adjacent to our campsite, offers numerous opportunities for water sports and recreation. In addition, the nearby bathing lakes invite you for a refreshing swim and relaxing days. Ideal for families and anyone who wants to relax in nature.

Sommerach

 

One of the oldest winegrowing communities in Franconia borders directly on our campsite: the historic wine village of Sommerach. Idyllically situated on the River Main, it is known for its outstanding winegrowers and the first-class wines they produce. Would you like to enjoy a good glass of wine with regional specialties? Cozy restaurants and rustic taverns invite you to stay. They are just a few minutes' walk away. Of course there are many other beautiful villages to discover along the Mainschleife.

Würzburg

 

A 30-minute drive takes you to Würzburg, a city rich in culture and history. Visit the Würzburg Residence, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or stroll through the picturesque streets of the old town. Enjoy theaters, music festivals, galleries and the flair of a university city.

Münsterschwarzach

 

Visit the impressive Münsterschwarzach Monastery, known for its architectural beauty and spiritual significance. The monastery offers guided tours and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and culture of the region.

Geiselwind

 

Children can have fun at Freizeitland Geiselwind, which is just a 25-minute drive away. From a petting zoo for the little ones to fast-paced rides, shows and attractions for the older ones, everything is there to spend exciting hours.

Transport connections

 

Our campsite is only a few kilometers away from the freeway and can be reached in about 8 minutes from exit 74 Kitzingen / Schwarzach / Volkach, which also makes us an ideal stopover for short breaks.

 

With our practical check-in machine, which is also available beside opening hours, your arrival will be as uncomplicated and flexible as possible.

 

Despite our proximity to the highway, you can look forward to a quiet and idyllic atmosphere without traffic noise.
